IN SHORT

The terms, at a glance.

How it’s priced

A fixed price per step, quoted once we’ve seen your schematic and Gerbers. You approve each step before it starts; nothing is billed on open-ended time-and-materials.

Who owns it

You do. Schematics, layouts, manufacturing files, test code and documentation transfer to you in full. The one exception is the generic core of our test platform, which stays ours and comes with your project royalty-free.

After delivery

A support envelope is built in for the production ramp-up: pre-paid, drawn down only as time is actually spent, refundable if unused.

Where the work happens

Mostly remotely from our offices in Belgium; on site for deployment; remote support after that.

A one-page summary of this model you can forward internally is planned (PDF).

THE TIMELINE

From first contact to a bench in production.

  1. YOU

    First contact

You tell us about your board, through the form or by email.

  2. YOU

    Project files

You share the schematic, the layout and the Gerbers, under NDA if you prefer.

  3. US

    Testability analysis: the offer

You receive a report: the coverage reachable on the board as it stands, the test points we suggest adding and the maximum coverage they unlock, the list of test functions, and an estimate of the total cost. That report is our full offer.

  4. TOGETHER

    Test strategy agreed

Offer accepted, we meet to settle the final test-point list and the function behind each point, the test strategy, and who writes the test firmware if one is needed.

  5. TOGETHER

    Design-for-test support

We follow the changes to your design and review the final version before it goes to production.

  6. US

    Build

Design green-lit, we build the testboard, the fixture and the test software.

  7. US

    Delivery

The bench is delivered six to eight weeks after the green light.

  8. TOGETHER

    Integration on your line

The bench is integration-tested with the first boards out of your production.

PRICING

A fixed price per step, known before you commit.

The engineering is priced per step: specify, testboard, fixture, software, deploy. Each step is a fixed amount, quoted before it starts, and the numbers come out of the testability analysis: your board’s complexity, the coverage it calls for, the volumes you run. That is also why this site shows no prices; there is no generic testbench to price.

After deployment, the project includes a maintenance-and-support provision for the ramp-up: a pre-paid envelope, drawn down only as time is actually spent, tracked at the appropriate junior or senior rate, with a timesheet available on request. Whatever isn’t used is refundable.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

You own everything we build for you.

At the end of the project, everything produced for it transfers to you in full: schematics, layouts, manufacturing files, test source code, documentation. You could maintain, modify or rebuild the bench without us.

The single exception is the generic core of our test platform, the engine every bench we deliver runs on. It remains the property of Dawans Engineering and is provided royalty-free with your project. You get a maintained platform without paying to develop one, and the board-specific test code built on top of it is yours.

WHAT YOU PROVIDE

What we’ll ask from your side.

  • A few sample boards for the bring-up.
  • The schematic and Gerber files.
  • The production firmware binary the bench will flash.
  • For functional tests: test functions in your production firmware (a diagnostic mode), or a dedicated test firmware. You can write it, or we take that on entirely.
  • Your serial-number format, and the ERP / QR specifications if we integrate.
  • The expected annual volume, so the bench is engineered for the right duty.

FOR ASSEMBLERS & EMS

We can deliver it under your name.

Your customer expects a tested board, and increasingly the testbench that goes with it. We work as your subcontractor: you keep the customer relationship, we build the bench, and it’s delivered under your name.

We’re used to white-label delivery and to fitting into a contract manufacturer’s production environment: production orders, serial-number schemes, traceability requirements.

WHERE & HOW

Remote for most of the project, on site for deployment.

The specification, the testboard and fixture design and the test software are done from our offices in Belgium (Genappe / Ways), with your sample boards on our bench. We come on site for the deployment step: installation, calibration, first articles, training. After that, support is remote; the bench is built for it.

Tell us about your board and we’ll scope the five steps for it.

Send the schematic and Gerbers, under NDA if you prefer. You’ll get back an outline test strategy: what we’d cover, how, and roughly what it takes. That first pass is free.
